Gunfire Targets Home in Sydney
(MENAFN) A house in northwest Sydney came under gunfire early Tuesday morning, while a nearby vehicle was set ablaze, marking the third similar incident in just two weeks.
Police responded to reports of gunshots fired at a residence in Kellyville—around 30 kilometers from Sydney’s city center—shortly after 3 a.m., according to a statement from NSW Police.
Upon arrival, officers discovered damage to the home's front windows and established a crime scene, NSW Police confirmed.
At the time of the shooting, three people were inside the home: a man and woman in their 30s and a two-year-old child. No injuries were reported.
Not long after the shooting, emergency crews were alerted to a car fire nearby in Kellyville. Though the blaze was extinguished, the vehicle was completely destroyed, NSW Police stated.
Authorities are probing whether the burnt-out car may have served as a getaway vehicle in the attack.
This latest incident follows two previous shootings on June 25 and July 3—one in North Kellyville and the other in Concord, in Sydney’s inner west.
No injuries were reported in those cases either.
In both earlier shootings, vehicles believed to have been used in the attacks were also found torched near the scenes shortly after the gunfire.
