Bannon compared Trump’s historical significance to that of George Washington, the nation’s founder, and Abraham Lincoln, who preserved the Union.
Bannon predicted that Trump will run for a third term in 2028 and win, though he did not clarify how this would be legally possible given the constitutional two-term limit. He described Trump as a “world-historic” leader who is delivering a national “rebirth.”
Having served as Trump’s chief strategist early in his presidency, Bannon continues to promote Trump’s political legacy through his podcast and public appearances. His comments come amid rumors about Trump’s plans for 2028, fueled by the recent sale of ‘TRUMP 2028’ and ‘Rewrite the Rules’ merchandise in Trump’s campaign store.
Trump has denied plans to seek reelection, saying he expects to serve four years and then pass the leadership to “a great Republican.” He has mentioned Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential successors but has not made an official endorsement.
Despite Trump’s public statements, his administration faces ongoing opposition and impeachment efforts from Democrats. Last month, Trump’s mass deportation order sparked unrest in several Democratic-run cities, including Los Angeles, where National Guard and Marine forces were deployed amid legal challenges from California officials.
A recent YouGov poll found that 40% of Americans believe a civil war is somewhat or very likely within the next decade, highlighting deep partisan and racial divisions over the country’s future.
