Nepal Floods Leave 18 Missing Including Six Chinese Citizens
(MENAFN) Heavy rains on Tuesday morning triggered devastating floods in northern Nepal, leaving eighteen individuals missing—including six Chinese citizens.
The Chinese Embassy in Nepal reported that these six Chinese nationals, alongside eight Nepali workers, vanished while collaborating on China-supported infrastructure projects near the Rasuwagadhi border.
Local authorities at Rasuwagadhi police station confirmed the total missing count includes three Nepali police officers and nine other Nepali nationals, in addition to the Chinese workers.
In response, the Chinese Embassy has dispatched a specialized team to the affected region to coordinate relief efforts.
Inspector Krishna Dhital from the Rasuwa district police told media, most of those missing were employed at a dry port near the border.
He further revealed that a bridge at the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border was destroyed by floodwaters, and multiple electric vehicles parked at the dry port were swept away in the deluge.
Meanwhile, two bodies have been recovered in Dhading district, confirmed by Subash Hamal, spokesperson for Dhading district police, speaking to media.
