France’s messaging app becomes obligatory for using by public officials
(MENAFN) French public officials are now required to use the government’s own instant messaging service, Tchap, for all official communications, according to reports.
As of Monday, ministries and state employees must switch to Tchap, following a directive signed earlier this summer by Prime Minister Francois Bayrou. The order obliges ministers, Cabinet members, and other public servants to install the platform by Sept. 1, noting that widely used apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram are “not without security flaws.”
The secure application was developed by the Interministerial Digital Directorate (DINUM) in cooperation with the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) to safeguard exchanges within state administrations.
