Death toll of Indonesia school collapse increase to forty-five
The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) reported that 19 additional victims were pulled from the rubble on Sunday, increasing the death toll from 37 earlier in the day to 45.
Yudhi Bramantyo, Basarnas' operations director, said rescuers have evacuated a total of 149 people, with 45 confirmed dead and 104 survivors.
The number of people still missing has dropped to 18, though Bramantyo noted that this figure is based on the student attendance list from the Islamic boarding school and may not be exact.
More than 60% of the debris has been cleared, but teams are facing challenges, including a large piece of concrete still attached to a neighboring structure.
Abdul Muhari, head of the Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center at the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), stated that 167 students were impacted. Of these, 104 have been located safely. Fourteen are being treated in hospitals, 89 have been discharged, and one has been transferred to another facility.
