Knife Attacks Claims Child’s Life at Moscow School

(MENAFN) A knife-wielding adolescent launched a deadly assault inside a Moscow-area school Tuesday, claiming the life of one child and wounding a security officer, Russia's Investigative Committee announced.

The attack unfolded at an educational facility in the Gorki-2 settlement within Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, according to the committee's statement. "As a result of the stabbing wound, the child succumbed," officials reported.

Ksenia Mishonova, children's ombudsman for the Moscow region, verified that a fourth-grade student perished following the blade assault. "To our great sorrow, a child, a fourth-grade student, has died in the school. There are also injured individuals," she posted on Telegram.

The Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings in response to the violence.

Authorities have not disclosed the attacker's identity, motive, or whether additional victims sustained injuries beyond the security personnel. The status of the teenage assailant remains unclear, with no information released regarding apprehension or custody.
