Pakistani Police Kill Two Militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operation

(MENAFN) Two militants, including a suspected suicide bomber, were killed and another was wounded during a police operation in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said Wednesday.

The operation took place in the Lakki Marwat district after police received intelligence about the presence of suspected militants in the area, prompting security forces to launch a targeted raid.

According to police, the armed men, identified as members of “Fitna al-Khawarij,” opened fire on officers as they approached. Police responded with gunfire, killing two of the suspects during the exchange.

A third militant was injured but managed to flee the scene, while officers continued efforts to address the security threat in the area.

Pakistani security authorities use the designation “Fitna al-Khawarij” to describe militants affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an armed group operating in the country.

Provincial police chief Zulfikar Hameed told reporters that the operation had prevented a “large-scale terrorist attempt” by eliminating the militants involved.

The incident underscores ongoing security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in districts where police and security forces continue to conduct operations against suspected militant networks.
